Simply Jazzmin

The Official Website of Sauda Jazzmin

While studying in Ireland in her early 20's, Sauda gravitated to jazz and blues. Jazz however soon became her real passion and led to the formation of the jazz band Cheza in the 80's. The name Jazzmin was coined by her friends at the time.

One of the major influences on Sauda was Billie Holiday, whose music and history had a profound impact on her and led to the formation of the jazz band Cheza. As Cheza's vocalist, she performed at a range of venues throughout Dublin, she was described in one review as "the sort of girl who kept Bille Holiday alive "In a review in After Hours, Sauda was described as a singer who sang with an ease, a confidence and a joy".

Selected to perform at the National Concert Hall with the Irish Jazz Youth Orchestra, The Irish Times described her rendition of Summertime as "lightly sang, clearer than most bells".

Having spent a number of years abroad, Sauda returned to her beloved homeland in 1998.

Sauda's enduring empathy for jazz evolved into her debut CD "Simply Jazzmin" released in 2006, an album of jazz classics. She is currently recording all original songs for her next CD, due for release later this year.
